Calibration is a special, highly refined process in which one compares the performance of instruments with standards of known uncertainty to detect and correct any variation from required performance. In other words, it is a process of verifying the operational integrity of instruments. All scientific instruments must be calibrated both at the time of manufacture and at regular intervals during use, to assure the accuracy of and confidence in the measurements. In today’s quality conscious environment, calibration plays a direct role in satisfying aggressive quality standards such as ISO 9000.

To cater the demand from the mills, SITRA has started the calibration of textile testing & measuring instruments from 1995 and established the procedures according to the International Standards. Now, SITRA calibration certificates are approved by ISO 9000 certifying authorities. A certificate of membership has been presented to SITRA by the `National Conference of Standard Laboratories’, Colorado, USA. SITRA’s calibration services are very much useful for Knitting, Processing and Garment Industries for SA 8000, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 Audits.
