Abstract

The aim of this project is development of 3D knitted bandages for patients with Lymphedema, as an alternative to conventional bandages with user defined construction and good level of breathability. For research work, technological potential of warp knitting will be used. Elastic 3D short traction bandages for the compression therapy are cost effective. The prevention of thermal congestion and optimal breathability are attainable with these bandages. Two textile outer surfaces and an aired zone between them make these short traction bandages not only compressible but also cushioning. 3D compression bandages have a faster relaxation time and drying period than the conventional bandages. 3D compression bandages also have a better handling and wear comfort as compared to standard bandage materials.

Highlights
