Abstract

Contamination in cotton is a major problem, faced by the textile industry. Despite all attempt in clearing the contamination at preparatory stages some contamination reach up to yarn stage. Till date many spinning units do not having winding machines with contamination clearers, which is in turn result, in down gradation of fabrics after knitting. SITRA was developed contamination clearer for knitting machines.

Highlights

It is possible to identify the contaminants of the yarn on knitting machine and winding machine utilizing the developed attachments.

The attachments can be used for coloured yarn or grey yarn.

The study of findings were disseminated to SITRA member mills

Mills are making use of these findings to produce better quality yarns and thereby better quality fabrics
